About Teacher Crystal

A Los Angeles native, Crystal Keith brings a lifetime of musical experience to every lesson. Born into a long line of country and gospel musicians, she sang her first solo at age 2 in the 500-seat room at Angeles Temple. At 4, she joined the family trio. At 5, she started piano lessons. She attended Van Nuys Performing Arts High School, where she was one of the first students to pursue a double concentrate in music and theater, performing with the chamber choir, the award-winning vocal jazz ensemble and as vocalist for the school's jazz band (with whom she traveled to Washington DC on a performance tour.) She graduated as the recipient of the Herb Alpert Music Scholarship, before attending The Boston Conservatory of Music.

After completing her studies in London, she returned home and went right to work. She joined local pop punk rockers Throttle Back Sparky, with whom she made two albums and an appearance at SXSW. She returned to her country and gospel roots, began writing songs and formed The Honeysuckle Jones Revival - a theatrical southern rock experience. She appeared in the world premiere staging of Frank Zappa's Joe's Garage. She fronted cover bands,  performed studio vocals and started teaching. In 2009, she joined the cast of the award-winning, box-office smash Louis and Keely: Live at the Sahara for its 8-month run at The Geffen Playhouse.

Most recently, Crystal appeared in the original rock musical The Burning Opera LA, as a lead performer, vocalist, and musician. After concluding its 2011 run in Los Angeles, she took some time off to have her first child. She now juggles motherhood with teaching, performing, and learning to play her late grandfather's mandolin.
